2011-02-26 Cabinet

It was a much warmer day today, -20 degrees only.  I invited my brother and sister-in-law to visit my future home.  The cabinet was being installed onsite.  The cabinet installer is very skillful and he said HI to us...

Do you like the cabinet's dark color?  It is complementary to the light color wall and dark color hardwood.

The border for doors is installed.  I love the fancy border as accent.

The fancy border for windows is installed too.

To follow the same pattern, the fancy border for closet is installed.

The railing top is installed with a thick cap.

The railing with iron sticks is installed.

2011-02-20 Doors

What a beautiful day!  The snow is still thick...  Sunny but cold:

All of doors are installed at my future home.  Do you like the white door on lavender wall color and complimentary to the knock down ceiling?

And, do you like the white doors on beige wall color?

The closet doors are also installed.

The pantry door is a French door style with auto-turn-on light inside when the door is opened:

Just looking out from basement window, you can see a picture of neighbouring houses.  They are under construction...

The garage stairs have arrived but not yet installed:

2011-02-19 Eating!

February was a busy month with many eating activities, despite of the unexpected spring cold and windchill.

The first one was the pre-celebration of Valentine's Day on Feb 12, 2011.  Great dishes were prepared at home.  First it was a pot of wine-marinated mussel:

Followed closely was another seafood:

We also had home-made BBQ pork:

Most importantly we had different kinds of vegetables:

One my my favorites is eggplant:

How can we complete a dinner without chicken?!

Another pre-celebration of Valentine's Day was taken place on Feb 13, 2011.  I had a special treat with my valentines.   We went to an Irish Pub next to Chinook mall.  To begin with, we ordered fish & chips:

The fries were thick and chunky:

Next, we had a deep dish pizza which is called "All Nighters".  I should have asked them to remove the spicy jalapeno poppers as they were HOT:

We pre-celebrated Family Day on Feb 19, 2011 at T-Pot China Bistro.  We ordered many dishes and so it was a true festival.  To begin with, they gave us some pickled vegetable and to-fu:

Next, we had wasabi and sesame seed chicken.   This tastes much like Japanese styled tempura:

Then, we had my love - cheese and creamy lobster on Chinese noodle:

Another seafood was shrimps on vermicelli noodle:

It may not look like a seafood dish but it is!  The dish also has pan fired vegetable overlay with XO sauce:

A highlight of the party was a big pot of lamb with chinese cheese:

More vegetable the better!

Another vegetable dish with dry scallop and soup:

After we got home, we enjoyed a firework at our back yard.  How beautiful!!  Expect the unexpected...

2011-02-15 Birthday

After visiting my future home, I attended a birthday dinner at Le Villa restaurant.  It is famous and so it attracts many oriental fans.  Thereby, we bumped into a few people we know.

To start, we had warm and buttery bread:

Next, we had soup.  My choice was lobster bisque:

My appetizer was the baked oysters:

While I was waiting for the main course, I noticed the beautiful fireplace:

There were many options when it came to main course:  Steak, fish, or lamb.   Since I often have steak and fish, I chose lamb:

My sister-in-law's choice was the tenderloin steak:

The yummy birthday dinner was wrapped with a beautiful dessert.  This is mango cheesecake:

2011-02-15 Stair

Just before going to a birthday dinner, I went to visit my home with Mom and Dad.  Nicely done with the stair railing.

2011-02-12 Painting

What a cold day!  It does not affect my desire to visit my future home.  The construction progress is extremely fast.  I envision the construction business is slow and so crews are taking opportunities as soon as they come up.  The exterior stones have been installed.

The exterior siding is completed as well.

Exterior pot light and ceiling are installed.

Tile underlay is installed for lobby and bathrooms.

Medicine cabinet holes have been prepared, water proof electrical plug is installed, and the wall is primed with the base color.

Shower is installed and well covered.  Do you like the lavender color for the bathroom?

The knock down ceiling is done.  This is the bonus room with the vaulted ceiling!  It will be equipped with fan light.

The round corner is done quite well.

Piping for water softener is prepared.

Energy saving furnace and humidifier are here.  They have been turned on since January 2011 keeping the house warm!

2011-02-05 Taping

Happy Chinese New Year!  It is snowing again...  The construction progress is very well and a door lock is now in place.  Every time I visit the site, I have to pick up a key from the builder.

Drywall is installed throughout the house.   The bathroom drywall is water proof.

And, the taping has begun.

The basement now has concrete floor.

The insulation right outside of the house is sprayed.

Garage door is installed but not yet painted.  Great job!!!
